Full Moon in Cancer on 22nd December 2018
Nurturing, Vulnerable and Sensitive
On December 22nd there will be a Full Moon in its natural home of Cancer, but before looking what the Cancer Full Moon means let’s look a little closer at the Moon and what it represents in astrology.
The Moon in Astrology
The Moon represents our inner world: our emotions, our mood, inner security, sensitivity, the unconscious and intuition. In astrology the Moon is one of the most important planets as she is mother, home, family, feelings, our habits and how we instinctually react to life. The Moon rules the sensitive sign of Cancer.
In your natal chart (the time of your birth) the Moons location tells you your emotional tendencies while the Moon’s current location as it moves across sky impacts on our feelings and behaviour in the present. She speaks to us through our feelings.
About the Sign of Cancer
In astrology, the natural ruler of Cancer is The Moon. Cancer is the cardinal water sign, meaning it is one of the initiators of the zodiac. When you think of it, our emotions are very powerful in initiating action.
Cancer correlates to the stomach where we feel our emotions, the breasts, womb and ovaries, therefore it’s known as the “Nurturer” of the Zodiac.
Symbolised by the Crab being tough on the outside while caring deeply for others. Acutely sensitive, easily hurt, moody or “crabby” the acute sensitivity sees a Cancerian retreat or withdraw and won’t venture out until they are ready. Cancer has great tenacity and will fiercely protect themselves and anyone they care for.

The Full Moon in Cancer
No matter where our Sun or Moon is in our Natal Chart (Birth Chart), we are all effected by the Cancer Full Moon.
The Cancer Full Moon signifies completions and often a time of endings. This may be the opportune time to forgive yourself and others. Forgiveness is often misunderstood; it does not mean whatever someone has done is acceptable but just think for a moment they were doing their best in that moment as were you. It’s about being kind to yourself and them.
You may feel at this time incredibly sensitive to just about everything, so this is a time to feel grateful and blessed. Look at all around you, be calmed, content and grateful. If you are feeling somewhat isolated or lost, try to connect with someone or an animal to cuddle, it will do wonders.
Cancer rules the stomach and food, so be mindful not to over indulge which is so easy to do. If you are the one doing the cooking put lots of love into the food from its preparation to serving, then eating. Food that is made with love is deeply nourishing to the mind, body and soul.
The Cancer Full Moon may trigger memories of the past, if the memory was painful we can have great difficulty in letting it go, emotions are not so easy to dismiss, and this can be a long process. If you have this experience and just feel you can’t let go one to the most liberating and powerful things you can do is find in yourself what you are labelling. For example, you experienced someone being unkind to you and have labelled them “thoughtless or selfish”.
Ask yourself where you are thoughtless or selfish? It is a humbling experience to recognise these things in ourselves and is the way to forgiveness and letting go. Forgiveness is a process and make sure you forgive yourself, give love to yourself, we often leave ourselves out of the equation. The Cancer Full Moon is all about nurturing, taking care of yourself and others.

At this time the Cancer Full Moon faces the Sun in Capricorn, its opposite sign. While Capricorn is about mastering our outer world, Cancer is about mastering our inner world. These energies counterbalance each other beautifully. The Cancer Full Moon helps us to bring into the world those seeds we planted in the Cancer new moon phase giving us a sense of security bringing into the world that which we want and desire.

How the Full Moon in Cancer Coincides with Your Cycle
Day 15: Today can sometimes can be a bit tough as some women may be experiencing a low day or two after ovulation. The reason being right after ovulation the feel-good hormone “Oestrogen” crashes abruptly.
Day 16: With Oestrogen dropping off quickly, this can kick off a few days of feeling down, “Progesterone” is starting to take over and is often thought of as the “stay at home” hormone. You’ll be transitioning into “nesting” mode where introversion and introspection can be wonderful assets.
Days 20, 21: Progesterone will be at its peak and you may be feeling more nurturing and loving. Be mindful of over indulging but don’t beat yourself up about it.
Day 28: Your relationships with loved ones sometimes can be well, let’s just say they can be interesting at times. One minute you can be overwhelmed with feelings of love, the next, you’re irritated to the point of rage. This time can be very confusing for someone who doesn’t feel the depth of their emotions. One remedy to get to the bottom of your true feelings is to write them down in a journal, it will give you clarity and the ability express yourself to others with your natural warmth and kindness.
As always, it is recommended you take time to do meditation, look at your nutrition and what you are putting into your body and how it’s making you feel.
