Full Moon in Libra 31st March 2018 (Blue Moon)

Diplomatic, Seeks Balance, Creative

On March 31st there’ll be a Full Moon in Libra, and this will be a Blue Moon as it is the second Full Moon of the month. But before look what the Libra Full Moon means let’s look a little closer at the Moon and what if represents in astrology.

The Moon in Astrology
The Moon represents our inner world: our emotions, mood, feelings of inner security, sensitivity, the unconscious and intuition.  In astrology the Moon is one of the most important planets as she is also mother, home, family, feelings and habits and how we instinctually react to life. In your natal chart (the time of your birth) the Moons location tells you your emotional tendencies while the Moon’s current location as its moving across sky impacts on our feelings and behaviour in the present.   She speaks to us through our feelings.

The Blue Moon
Most of us have heard the expression “Once in a Blue Moon” and you may have wondered if it only happens every few hundreds or thousands of years and is does the Moon actually turn Blue?

Firstly, it is more common than you think.  Because the solar calendar has 11 more days than the lunar calendar every few years they catch up and we have two Full Moons in a month.  We use the term Blue Moon as a way of describing something rare.

Does the Moon Turn Blue? Well no, it doesn’t, it is thought that it comes from a Middle English word “belewe” meaning betray so it was also known as the “Betrayers Moon” because the extra full moon didn’t fit into the usual cycle.  Over the years the word “belewe” changed to blue, hence the Blue Moon.

About the Sign of Libra
Libra stands for balance, equality and does so with grace always seeking harmony.  Libra thrives on feelings in close mutual relationships, while also focusing on factual information to ensure there is balance between the heart and the head.

Libra has a strong sense of justice, fairness and can see both sides of a situation making them the diplomat and the peace makers always checking in with both sides to find that balance, however they can flip flop in making up their minds when it comes to decision making.

Libra wants and loves to please everyone and can be inclined to making the needs of others more important than their own.  In finding balance with others they have to learn to seek for balance in themselves and to put their own needs first even if it is only every now and then.

Full Moon in Libra
No matter where our Sun or Moon is in our Natal Chart (Birth Chart), we are all effected by the Full Moon in Libra.

With Libra representing balance you’ll have the opportunity to check in to see what areas of your life need more balance.  Would it be your finances, health, relationships including the relationship you have with yourself.   That sounds strange to some people, but Libra does tend to put other’s needs before their own and can leave you feeling drained because you are not looking after yourself.  On the other hand, are you being too selfish in some relationships?   The Full Moon in Libra will heighten your awareness of your emotions and you’ll be able to find clarity in the inequality in your close relationships.

This is also an ideal time to look at your health.  If you are feeling tired are you over doing things and are your energy levels are running low see where you need to make adjustments.   This Full Moon in Libra will also highlight what you are eating.  If you have been doing things on the run you may be inclined to grab junk food, this will surely deplete you of energy leaving you feeling tired.  You’ll find it easier to make changes during this Full Moon.

At this time the Libra Full Moon faces the Sun in Aries, it’s opposite sign. Both these signs correlate with our relationships and needs of others and ourselves.  The Libra Full Moon allows you to examine how you interact with others and how you manage yourself with the desire for companionship and your independence.   Although our bonds and how we interact with others is always in the front of our minds, it is heightened during the Full Moon in Libra.  If you are sacrificing your needs for the needs of others or are you putting your own needs first? This is an excellent time to see where your relationships are out of balance.

How the Full Moon in Libra Coincides with Your Cycle
Day 10:  You’re feeling empowered and eloquent today making it ideal to ask for something you want.  Ask nicely and firmly, but most importantly, just ask.  Getting in touch with what we want and need to help us to live up to our potential.

Day 11:  Many women report heightened senses leading up to ovulation.  You’ll feel strong, confident and you’ll have a strong urge to experience the world today.  Fun-filled emotions of joy, gratitude and excitement at the beauty of the world, and your place within it.  Use the Libran Full Moon energy to share.

Day 14 – 16:  Ovulation is the key event in your cycle and if you’re like many women, today is the day to engage with the balancing energies of the Full Moon in Libra.  One minute you’re up and we mean cartwheels around the living room kind of up.  The next minute, you’re feeling like you could use barrels of extra love to make-up for the moments of loneliness and the blues.  The reason is that once the egg is released from your ovary, Oestrogen crashes dramatically.  It will feel like a trip on a stormy ocean, be gentle with yourself, mediation will help you become even keeled.

Day 17:  These next few days it’s all about comfort. Oestrogen is longer dominant, and you feel more sensitive to pain now than you were a week ago, so you may be reaching for more comfortable clothing and flatter shoes.  Take the time to look after your well-being, certainly nothing wrong with a soft nightie and a warm cup of Milo.  Time for the Full Moon in Libra to care for you.

As always, it is recommended you take time to do meditation, look at your nutrition and what you are putting into your body and how it’s making you feel.
